The Sioux Falls Regional Airport (FSD) has consistently evolved to meet the growing demands of travelers. A significant milestone in this evolution is the completion of a state-of-the-art, four-level parking ramp, adding nearly 1,000 covered parking spaces. This development not only addresses the increasing need for parking but also elevates the overall passenger experience.​

Initiated in April 2023, the $63 million project aimed to enhance parking facilities at the airport. The new structure offers both short-term and long-term parking options, with the first level dedicated to short-term parking and the upper levels designated for long-term stays. A notable feature is the enclosed skywalk connecting the second level of the parking ramp directly to the terminal building, providing passengers with a seamless and weather-protected transition between their vehicles and the terminal.

Gage Brothers’ Integral Role

Gage Brothers played a pivotal role in the construction of this modern facility by supplying essential precast concrete components, including:

• Architectural Precast Cladding: The exterior of the parking ramp features cladding in two primary finishes: a quartz-inspired very light sandblast and a light buff tone with a light etch. These finishes not only enhance the aesthetic appeal but also reflect the natural hues of the region.​
• Precast Stair Towers and Main Stair Elevator Lobby: To ensure efficient vertical circulation within the structure, Gage Brothers provided robust precast elements, including structural walls, insulated walls, beams, columns, hollow-core planks, and stair units. The Main Stair Elevator Lobby is particularly significant as it connects to the second-level skyway, facilitating easy access to the terminal.​

The parking ramp project became operational on October 1, 2024, and its success is a testament to the collaborative efforts of multiple stakeholders:​

• Design and Engineering: TSP, Inc. provided architecture, interior design, mechanical and electrical engineering, and a portion of the structural engineering services. KLJ managed the project and offered civil engineering expertise, while Kimley-Horn served as the parking and structural consultant.​
• Construction: Henry Carlson Construction acted as the general contractor, ensuring the project’s timely completion and adherence to quality standards.​
