Strengthening Community Through Smart Design

The Winnebago Fire and EMS Building brings the Tribe’s Fire Department, EMS, Community Health Representatives (CHR), and Motor Vehicle Operators (MVO) together under one roof. Designed to enhance emergency response and collaboration, this modern facility reflects the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska’s dedication to safety, efficiency, and community resilience.

Durable, Efficient, and Symbolic Design

Gage Brothers provided both structural and architectural precast concrete for the facility. The load-bearing insulated and non-insulated wall panels create a complete precast envelope offering strength, energy efficiency, and longevity.

Architectural panels feature a Light Etch finish and thin brick detailing, forming a triangular crisscross pattern that adds texture, depth, and symbolic meaning to the façade. This design showcases how precast can merge cultural identity with modern functionality.

Why Precast Made Sense

  • Durability and Structural Integrity: Withstands heavy vehicle loads and demanding 24/7 use while providing natural weather resistance.
  • Energy Efficiency and Lifecycle Value: Insulated panels deliver continuous thermal performance, lowering operating costs and improving comfort for responders.
  • Speed and Minimal Disruption: Fabricated off-site and delivered ready to install, precast accelerated construction and reduced community impact.
  • Aesthetic and Cultural Expression: Flexible finishes and geometric detailing reflect the Tribe’s culture and strengthen the building’s civic identity.

Building Resilient Communities

The Winnebago Fire and EMS Building is more than a facility; it’s a symbol of strength and unity. Through the use of precast concrete, the Tribe has created a lasting investment that honors heritage while protecting future generations.
