Elevating Urban Living Through Architectural Precision

Downtown Minneapolis’ newest high-rise embraces high-contrast aesthetics and thoughtful detailing with Gage Brothers precast cladding.

Located in the heart of Minneapolis’ thriving Downtown East district, 4th & Park is a 25-story residential tower that reflects the city’s dynamic shift toward modern urban living. Developed by Weidner Apartment Homes and constructed by Ryan Companies, this sleek 350-unit building brings housing, design, and convenience together, just steps from U.S. Bank Stadium and connected to the city’s expansive skyway system.

The project is the final phase in Ryan Companies’ decade-long redevelopment of five key city blocks—a transformation that has reshaped downtown with office towers, public green spaces, and a vibrant residential community. 4th & Park stands as a capstone to this effort, offering residents stunning skyline views, luxury amenities, and walkable proximity to transit and entertainment. Gage Brothers proudly contributed to this vision with a robust and refined precast solution.

The Precast Solution: High Contrast Meets High Craft

Gage Brothers manufactured and delivered 458 architectural precast panels for the exterior cladding of 4th & Park. The design demanded visual depth and material expression, achieved through the strategic use of Buff, Light Charcoal, and Dark Charcoal color tones across the façade. Panels featured a range of sandblast, honed, and polished finishes, chosen to reflect light differently throughout the day and complement the building’s angular massing.

Unique to this project, several panels required exposed backs, showcasing the precision and craftsmanship of Gage’s team, even in areas typically hidden from view. The dimensional rhythm, material palette, and surface finishes provide a sleek, contemporary look while anchoring the tower to the district’s emerging architectural language.

Solving for Urban Complexity with Smart Precast Design

Designing and delivering precast panels for a tight, urban infill site like 4th & Park comes with challenges: constrained delivery zones, limited laydown space, and precision alignment with structural framing. Gage Brothers’ off-site manufacturing, just-in-time delivery, and PCI-certified production processes enabled installation efficiencies that kept the project moving forward on a fast-track schedule.

Architectural precast was the smart solution for more than just speed. Its inherent durability, energy efficiency, and resistance to freeze-thaw cycles make it a material fit for the demanding Minnesota climate, while delivering long-term value with minimal maintenance.

Building Relationships, Building the City

The 4th & Park project continues a trusted collaboration between Gage Brothers and Ryan Companies in the Downtown East neighborhood. Previous partnerships include the award-winning Eleven, Minneapolis’ tallest residential building, and the Wells Fargo Downtown East Campus, a key component in the district’s revitalization. Each of these projects reflects a shared commitment to quality, innovation, and urban placemaking.
